What do we need to know about bio fireplaces?

The flame of Bio fireplaces is cleaner, safer and more environmentally friendly way to enjoy a real fire in the home. Bio fireplaces are not intended to replace the main source of heating in your home, such as central heating. Bioethanol fireplaces do not require a chimney as they do not emit smoke, soot or ash. What's more, you will only be able to use your bio fireplace within minutes of receiving it.

How to Fill Your Bio fireplace with Bioethanol?

Bio fireplaces burn with bioethanol. Most bioethanol fireplaces are equipped with manual combustion chambers. This means you have to fill and light the combustion chamber manually. Before use, it is necessary to pour bioethanol into the combustion chamber. Handheld combustion chambers come in many different sizes and designs, but the bioethanol filling process is the same.

!!! The most important thing when filling the combustion chamber is that you NEVER need to refuel a already lit or still hot combustion chamber. Bioethanol is easily flammable and may ignite if you do not follow the manufacturer's instructions.

To fill the combustion chamber with bioethanol, we recommend using a funnel to avoid spillage. If you do spill bioethanol after all, it should be absorbed before you start the biofire. If you want to refill the combustion chamber with bioethanol, you must make sure that the flame is completely extinguished and that it has cooled for at least 15-20 minutes. There are many different types of bioethanol and not all are intended for use in bio fireplaces. We recommend that you use bioethanol with an alcohol content of between 95% and 97.5% to get the most stunning flame and to avoid the bad odor of burning it.

How to light a combustion chamber?

The manual combustion chamber is lit with a lighter or matches. We recommend that you use the long version of both to avoid burning your fingers when the fireplace is lit. After the biofire is lit, the flames are small, but after only a few minutes, the flames intensify and the fireplace becomes warm.

Installation of wall bio fireplace

One advantage of buying a wall bio fireplace is that they are manufactured in many different sizes, shapes and designs. Installation of wall bio fireplaces is relatively simple and very similar to mounting a TV on the wall.

The most common way to install a biofire wall is as follows:

♦ Using a drill, drill holes is the wall.

♦ Use dowels and screws.

♦ Fix the wall mounts and hang the fireplace on them.

♦ Make sure the bio fireplace is stable before use.

Installation of a TV above the biofire

Installing a TV above the bio fireplace is very popular. It gives a nice look to your home and makes it possible to enjoy the cozy flames while watching TV.

To ensure that it does not destroy the TV with fire and heat, there are requirements that you must follow. Installation is not always so simple. There are a number of different solutions and options. The most important thing is to avoid the heat from the bio fireplace rising directly into the TV as this will cause the TV to overheat and break.

Option # 1 is the simplest.

You have a recess in the wall where you place your bioethanol fireplace. Then, under the TV, place a shelf that protects the TV from the heat emitted by the biofire.

The size of the shelf depends on the distance between the combustion chamber and the TV. You must have a distance of at least 1000 mm between the combustion chamber and the bottom of the TV. The greater the distance between the combustion chamber and the TV, the smaller the shelf required. The shelf should be mounted at least 100 mm below the TV.

Option # 2 is similar to # 1, but instead of making a shelf under the TV, you can make a recess in the wall where it will be mounted.

The distance between the combustion chamber and the bottom of the TV determines how deep the recess should be.

The smaller the distance between the combustion chamber and the TV, the deeper the recess must be.

How to turn a traditional fireplace into a bio fireplace?

We receive a lot of inquiries from clients who want to turn their current fireplace into an eco-friendly bio fireplace. The old fireplace has a beautiful and unique look that must be maintained. For converting to a biofireplace, all you need is a combustion chamber, bioethanol, a long lighter (for safety), and some decoration (eg small wood or stoneware).

Decorating your bio fireplace. Where to put the decoration in the bio fireplace?

Want a more realistic look for your biofireplace? It is possible to decorate it with ceramic wood or pebbles. We offer different types of ceramics - wood and pebbles, they all have different shapes, which contributes to a more realistic   and natural look. The advantage of ceramic firewood and pebbles is that they are not burnt and can be used countless times. When using the fireplace with decoration, do not touch the decoration for up to 30 minutes after use as it   can be quite warm.

Safe distance from bio fireplace and risk of fire

One of the most important things to keep in mind when working with an open fire is the safe distance you need to leave between the bio fireplace and the surrounding objects and materials.

The most important safety precautions are:

♦ Build your fireplace from incombustible materials. MDF is NOT suitable.

♦ Make sure there is sufficient space for flame and heat - we recommend a minimum distance of 50-60 cm above the combustion chamber.

♦ There are no specified safety requirements for side distances, but we recommend 5-10 cm. If you decide to have several combustion chambers side by side, we recommend that they be at a distance of about 5 cm.

♦ We recommend a distance of about 10 cm in front and behind the combustion chamber.

♦ There are no security requirements for distance to / from the floor. You must use solid materials to place the combustion chamber in a horizontal position.

♦ If you hang the TV above the fireplace, we recommend adding an additional 30 cm above the combustion chamber.

This part must be completely rigid and refractory. DO NOT use MDF material, chipboard, ordinary drywall or any plastic materials! You use refractory materials such as metal, stone, tile or bricks. Also insulate with stone wool.

NOTE: Be extremely careful with curtains and the like that move in the wind. Make sure items such as these do not come close to open flames and are at least 1 meter away from the fireplace.
